The reason why the boston bombing was a bigger story is

A: It occurred at a civilian event, thus had a lot of media covering it.
B: Boston isn't in a country that's been a warzone for 10 years.
C: Bombings are rare in the US, especially ones that were as violent as this one.

"3 dead" is a bit of a misnomer. Bombs don't just kill, they maim. If you don't die by the explosion, you might not make it out 100%. over 200 were injured, 15 of those injured now have to learn how to walk without one/both of their legs. The bomb used was very easy to make, using a simple pressure cooker device, and was used with such skill and technique I refuse to believe that the only ones involved are just the two of them. Anyhow, I don't really care what you say, but a city going on lockdown for 24 hours, regardless where it came from, is a bigger story than Iraq getting bombed because they're in the election season (and you thought the US election season was bad...).

Our reaction to terrorism is what gives terrorism such power to work. Think about it.

I'd say we responded pretty well. I've seen more solidarity and "USA! USA!" after the bombings, particularly after they got the suspect #2.
