i'm real confused here.

I recently bought some business cards from vista print, and since they sent me an email, google now knows that i shop at vista print. So, google has decided to tailor make all their ads directed at me, to let me know that vista print is a place that exists. Thank you google for letting me know about some thing i just used. You're so helpful!

I got an ad from google about intelectual property laws. The only way they could have decided that was a good ad for me was because of a disclaimer on an email that mentioned the term intelectual property. That very disclaimer said that the email was for the sole use of the recipient, meaning google read the disclaimer telling them they had no right to read it. And then went on to advertise at me about it. Any how i would strongly suggest you never use gmail if you care for privacy.

The google bot is something different from the script that reads your email. Think of it as a program that visits every page on a site so Google.com can find it when people search.

As with the email scanner, the government can already get into your email for any reason without a warrant and without notifying you, so google reading it isn't a big deal by comparison.

Big brother knows all, and we will all learn to love him in time.
