I agree that having a spawn for pvp world doesn't really help much. It makes it more convenient in the short term and causes more people to be there, but the quality of interaction is low, it keeps people from actually exploring the world, and it keeps people from actually fighting. It makes the server soft and kills the anarchy feel.
More importantly, I also agree that the original idea this thread was about is really good and should be implemented. Does anyone have an actual reason why it shouldn't be?

1. See a bunch of people in /pvplist
2. Grab weapons, pop potions, and /world
3. Everyone is running/ jumping around the protected area
4. Wait 45 minutes to an hour for 1 or 2 people to leave the protected area
5. Even if you get a kill, only get shitty unenchanted diamond and other junk.
That's how it happens every time. It's lame.

literally runescape tier
the only way to actually get anything good is to either
1) forge a false relationship between you and another player and convince them to come out into pvpland with you while they have top teir gear
2) fight in the overworld

Even attempting to do either of these things has serious problems.
1) Even if you manage to forge a false relationship and they trust you alot, they're still going to put their enchanted gear away before exiting the spawnzone so that they don't get punched by some random player with no armor on.
2) Since 90% of players have nether traveled (soon to also fly away on slime machines) a hundred-thousand blocks out, the only way you're going to fight in the overworld is if backstab someone, which has its own repercussions since everyone on this server has grown soft due to the lack of meaningful PVP (mostly because of the changes to /world), everyone will be screaming and calling you "dickweed" in chat and you'll never get another teamate again.

And even if you managed to get a named item through backstabbing, you'd hardly consider it a "trophy". Trophies are really only impressive if you got them through fair pvp.

Again, it looks like absolutely nobody thinks this suggestion is a bad idea. It's getting off topic because there is no discussion left. Could we get an actual vote on this or something? I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be implemented.

lord knows that if you touch this code you're going to somehow break something completely unrelated.
