so no one else is concerned that a computer is monitoring our communications for the sole purpose of turning us in to some facist dictatorship.

A quick google search reveals that turnitin is an anti-plagiarism bot.

Basically it goes through the entire web, and stores everything people write in a huge database. Then, people can compare assignments or reports or academic papers or whatever to the database, to see if all or part of it was copy pasted from the internet.

so it's stopping plagiarism by copying every ones written work? Not as bad as i thought but that's still pretty awful.
