i retract my last statement about /teleporting. this is a horrible idea on account of people warping out of combat. As for this, any public portal would become like a new spawn site bad or good i don't know i'm just gonna leave this topic at that.

Have a teleport where it won't work if you are moving, or if you were hit in the last 10-15 seconds or something.

Guys, this isn't like /home or spawn, this is a portal system. You only can teleport to other systems, which would be set at certain areas. This isn't like teleporting, this is using gates.

I reposted it here after you asked me to, and decided to add in the last high traffic point you made. I thought it was better to compress the idea than and another post or two. My bad for not giving you credit for the high traffic area bit.

Firstly. It wouldn't be possible to teleport out of combat or use it as a form of combatlogging.
Secondly. I'd like to put to rest the myth that this is suppose to be a vanilla server. It isn't. It never has been. It's suppose to be a server that lets users play without having to read a 200 page manual. Neither world boundaries, teleports, or gates violate this, as they're all quite simple.
Thirdly. The gates wouldn't really add extra areas of interest. If we set them up at 500 block intervals for 100k blocks, that would be 160801 gates.

That seems a little ridiculous to have that many portals. If anything, we should have them at 5k intervals or something like that

We could set up a portal every 2-3-4-5k or something. 500 blocks is way too close, as you can sprint that in less than 3 minutes. Really, 3k between each would be fine for most people, I think, and 100k is probably a bit far to have portals out anyway, as it would defeat the purpose of travel.

^ yeah, but then you would have to know the password to every portal and such...if that's how it would be set up. I still like my idea of a one-way portal system in which the portals only go to spawn. This is make traveling still relevant.
