You really stacked the deck in terms of what you're telling us. The Winter War was a blood bath for the Soviets, yes, but the Finns lost the war. Including the Continuation War, which, while still in the Finns favor in terms of casualties, also resulted in even more territory loss for the Finns. I don't know what you define as "winning a war", but I always saw wars as objective based. If you complete the objective, even if you took heavy casualties, you won the war. And the thing is, the Soviets could recover their losses. The Finns could not. The soviets lost as much as 20 million people in WW2, with the Germans only losing a fraction of that. But who won the Eastern Front? The Germans certainly didn't. Now you could make the argument that the brutal Russian winters halted Hitler's advance, but I think it had more to do with the Soviet strategy. The Soviets were very much like the Zerg in Starcraft. You don't out-maneuver or out-gun your opponent, you out-last them. You send wave after wave until the enemy has no choice but to retreat and re-group, and you do the same damn thing over and over again. Stalin industrialized a nation that had been farmers and fur-trappers for thousands of years in a very short period (roughly 15 years), had this not had happened, the Eastern Front would be a German victory before the first winter even happened.

Not only that, but the Soviet soldiers were so impressed and horrified by the Kaalikääryleet that they took a sample back to Russia, where it was further weaponized by the KGB and used to extract confessions from political prisoners and foreign spies. As far away from population centers as possible, special facilities were built to house this gastric torture and contain the frequent toxic mishaps.

Meanwhile, the Finnish just kept on eating the stuff, which horrified the Russian high command so much that they decided never to go anywhere near the fucking place again.

I haven't even seen a single person in Finland eat cabbage rolls which is also a Russian food.
