lol I built an iron trench before. Didn't work back then. They musta fixed it.

Did you see Tango's update and faq video? There were a lot of errors that caused problems with the original Trench, and he addressed them later.

It still didn't work after I fixed the stuff... and I'm not building it again x_x

Hmm... Well it could have been as simple as something being 1 block out of alignment, causing the villages to be detected improperly. I'm lucky I didn't have any major problems other than accidentally flooding the spawn pads... twice.

Wow! They nerfed iron farms. In the 1.8 update you only get iron if you kill the golems yourself ----> No afk iron farming

Ugh... well then I'll add a mob softener and it'll work like a regular xp farm.

No, each portal lead to a different location in the overworld.
