Minecraft 1.7.2 Update Discussion

For those whom need a reference point, here is the Changelog.

Minecraft 1.7.2
THE UPDATE THAT CHANGED THE WORLD
(This update includes 1.7 and 1.7.1)
+ Added lots of new biomes!
+ Added “AMPLIFIED” world type 
+ Added Acacia and Old Oak wood types 
+ Added Stained Glass 
+ Added Packed Ice, Red Sand, Podzol 
+ Added a bunch of new flowers, including double-height flowers and grass 
+ Added more types of fish 
+ Fishing rods can be enchanted 
+ Achievements are now world specific 
+ Gaining achievements now announced to other players 
+ Added a few new achievements 
+ Servers can now have a “server-icon.png” that is displayed in the multiplayer list 
+ You can see who’s online before joining, just hover the player count number in the server list 
+ New /summon command 
+ Added Command Block minecart 
+ Links in chat are now clickable 
+ Click on somebody’s name to send a private message 
+ Added a bunch of new graphics options 
+ Added some shader tests (click on the “Super Secret Settings” a couple of times…)
* Biome placement has been improved, and oceans are smaller 
* Portals to the Nether can now have different shapes
* Fishing is now more interesting 
* Maps in item frames are now extra big 
* The achievement screen is zoomable 
* Preparations have been made to offer name change in the future 
* You can now have multiple resource packs loaded at the same time 
* Resource packs can now hold sound effects 
* Servers can recommend resource packs 
* Network code has been rewritten 
* Sound manager has been rewritten 
* Many many bug fixes… 
- Removed the Rose flower 
- Removed Herobrine
Seems like a lot of pretty and a big pile of shit. Apparently, revamping the seldom-used fishing system was a top priority this update instead of something actually interesting.
We can also now see when other players gain a worthless achievement in a server, which the achievements only really made sense if you were playing by yourself anyways.
A bunch of stuff added to the server listings that should have been there in the first place, like actually being able to see whom is online, for once.

Apparently they did an overhaul on Network and Sound management code. Sounds, I hope, are less shit and skip less at low framerates (which are usually caused by memory leaks anyways).

Even more guesswork as to where your portal will appear, because now it can be shaped like an asshole instead of a door.

Like I said, sounds like a big pile of shit.

I think all minecrafr players should start a new motto like this: "FIX THE FUCKING BOATS" and spam it on PlanetMinecarft.

Well, maybe the new network code fixed boats. Or broke them worse. Or fixed shift-building. Or broke it worse.

I doubt it, boats are finnicky as fuck and need more depth to them then a driver-controlled hollowed out wood log.

It'd be interesting if they had paddle boats/ sailboats and they moved accordingly. Though the latter would need a wind system. I've been on a sailboat before, and not those big kinds, I mean those small race boats that need two people as counterweights to make sure the damned thing doesn't keel over. It was exhilarating, but I know it'd never make it past development stage.

About the portals:
1. Your portals size can be different, but it has to be a rectangle.
2. No matter what your portal looks like, the one generated at the other end will always be a standard 14-obsidian portal.

The spawn area is gonna be even more fucked up, now that ghasts can fit through custom size portals

I dont understand how is new biomes and many more stuff like, flowers, podzol, new trees, colored glasspanes etc a big pile of shit? And you're hardly ever online.. Thats just weird..
