Getting my shit back?

Alright, this is so damn confusing, but here we go.
Short story:
I was banned, as we all know, and unbanned today. I want my inventory back, as i lost it.
Long story: I was jailed before being banned, and in jail, you lose your inventory. I was in a strange enough situation, but then my pants ended up in my inventory, as i had picked them up and was holding them while i was jailed. I am assuming that i am unjailed, but if so, why do i not have the near half an inventory of potions, full set of diamond armor, two-three enchanted diamond swords, two lava buckets, half stack of bread, water bucket, and one or two things that slip my mind that i had while on the spawn platform?
Please fix this if it is an issue, which it is for me.
If this is meant to happen, then damn it, yer all going to hell. As if you weren't already ;)
Alright, to preserve posts, as it has gone overboard in the past, and I like 1337, I'll reply here.
Punishment? Dpylz said that when unjailed, I should've gotten my stuff back. I didn't. To me, at least, it seems more of a bug, as the jail was glitching before I was banned. To lose what I was carrying is to lose nearly half of my entire in game fortune. That's nothing small. I had pretty damn high enchantments on those swords, and the pots were good ones. It's always worth a shot to ask, at least.
