The thing that annoys me about MC is the only true defence against outside players to your base is hiding it. It doesn't matter if they put up a 100 block thick wall of obsidian, this is what happens:
Walls can't stop people from entering your base.

Indeed. But then again, I experimented a bit with protection on my server (I used preciousstones) and it somehow wasn't fun either.LoneSoldier55 wrote:The thing that annoys me about MC is the only true defence against outside players to your base is hiding it. Yea, since you can make yourself firesafe, it has gotten harder.
I have seen someone who wired the walls of his base in a way that you can't destroy a block without noticing it, but you'll still need a potenciallsy unsafe entrance. I think proximity mines and probably BUDs could help. but whatever you do, you can't really protect your base, because everything you do can be countered by a careful intruder.
Hiding will be the only chance...

i like, though rarely put in to practice, building trap buildings that are easier to find than your base, so you know your location has been compromised when you find a trap triggered.
Re: Walls can't stop people from entering your base.
ya something as simple as a "fake" pressure pad infront of a door that would revert a redstone torch to go on... add this to multiple fake rooms and you have a intruder alert system
Re: Walls can't stop people from entering your base.
I think it is a double-edged sword to build trap buildings. On the one hand, you can lure people away from your base or use it to detect visitors. On the other hand depending on the place fake buildings in untouched nature could attract attention, and people will take a deeper look. But closer to spam this can be very good.
