I ran a little testing it out server before and had no problems. but that was long ago before every update came with 100 new bugs. But the real server doesn't break your boats for no reason or turn your minecarts into broken boats
Books are designed in a way that journals/diaries can be made. I'd like to see pamphlets and such for towns/political movements. Big Biomes are almost too big, but I honestly don't care, because it's more realistic. I have yet to see a jungle temple on my gamefiles. Tripwires are hard to set off in a way that doesn't set off the trap, which make them deadly, even if found before setting it off.
