Orbs?

I heard they were turned off on purpose. But I'd kinda like to get my orbs they're gonna be nice to have built up for 1.9

Too many problems with too little purpose. Doubtful whether the XP gained now can even be used in 1.9

I haven't tried the pre-release for 1.9, so I don't really know what part they play, if they're useless as they are in 1.8 they won't be added again. If they server some purpose I will add them again.

haven't tried yet but i heard they are for the magic stuff enchanting and potions and what have you

exp orbs will have a function in the next update. also they probably won't be so laggy.

i never noticed any lag from orbs I've done some playing on another server that still has them and they seem just fine

I have no problems with orbs either, I think they were only causing problems right after bukkit was updated for 1.8

But I see no point in adding the orbs again until they do something

played around with it and it would seem that at best you could have one full bar to carry over which isn't worth much so yes it does seem needless untill the update. Tip enchant tools armor sucks
