I actually liked how the spawn was in the middle of a biggish lake, back in 1.7. It looked nicer imo. The land at the lake edge was just as griefed, which i also liked. But i don't think it's really all that necessary.

the lake is now there. i haven't been on in a few days, but i played this morning. went to spawn to build a platform on the water and then i realized spawn was within the water!
its nice. no more maze pitfalls or mobs. hopefully my platform will spawn some mobs-heh heh heh -_-

would make for pretty easy fixes if the admins just used /fill to level out anything below sea level with water. It should slowly become more and more oceanic that way.
