Enderchest at spawn?

Personally I think it would be better because when you die you can just grab what you need from it to survive in spawn or at other places.

Well, even I like the idea of an enderchest at spam and vote for one, I must say that back in the past a big part of playing here was to hide and protect bases even near spam...

While I could see the benefit of having one, I think having it out in the open would make it too easy.

How about perhaps hiding it somewhere in the maze?

Good idea, but think about how easy it would get greifed. Just saying if I have one approximately 1000 blocks from spawn, think about all the x-rayers that would be able to find it since it's so close.

So make a bunch of Decoys or a bunch of different ones. It's not like it has to have diamond gear in it, just put enough starter food and shit in it. Having an enderchest at spawn openly availble to everyone negates the penalty of dying without a bed - oh fuck I have shit in my enderchest that nobody can steal, It's no biggie, G.

i guess an ender chest at spawn is too much benefit for the start

if you die and have no bed it is your fault - if you are able to obtain an ender chest, then you should place on close to spawn and protect it somehow (hide it, move it far enough away to be out of range but still reachable)
