What about BUD switches? Should people be banned for building those?

Like it matters, it was scripted to the game. Now it's no longer in the script and everyone can be happy.

I'm not farmiliar with how they work. However the Sand generator does something it's not intended to do. Water+Lava makes cobble, that's supposed to happen. You're not supposed to be able to fabricate sand though.

Don't chicken farms, infinite water sources, etc, give you stuff from nothing? You still have to have the resources to build a mechanism and its not like having a bunch of sand gives you a huge advantage over other players.

It's not about giving someone an advantage over other players. You don't get an advantage either, because everyone could build it without manipulation, so no unfairness. It's about doing something using a bug. Watersources are intended to be infinite, and chicken farms also work with the intended possibilities of the game.

If you'd take it seriously, the should not be allowed.

Cobble generator: Replaces mining stone by a simple machine. Allowed: Yes
Sand generator: Replaces digging sand by a simple machine. Allowed: No

These are what make minecraft the game it is, it shouldn't be bannable unless it's used as an exploit of some sort like using it to x-ray or do some sort of texture glitch.
Might as well ban water/lava buckets then; I could easily exploit those to build a massive lava wall around spawn.

It's not about what the sandgenerator does, but about how.

its a hard line to set whats allowed and what is not.. i think the line goes where the glitch dont go by the feel of the game. sand generator this way just dont seem minecraft.

I say a glitch goes by wether it is an intended function or not.

well see obsidian generators.. u use redstone to get obsidian a glitch but still a function that can be a part of the game.. i think jeb said he would not fix it so is that a glitch or a function?

It's an unfixed glitch, just like floating blocks of land being generated.
