Pip-Chain Base Discussion

Post by Pippenger »

Hi. Not sure if this kind of thread is normally on here, but I don't see any reason it shouldn't be allowed. If it's in the wrong place just let me know.
I want to discuss and post images of potential buildings made on creative and source photos of real buildings to plan out a base I'm building with Chain. Here are the source images I've found so far, showing potential building styles:

Idea #1: An alternate universe modern Aztec city, with big stone pyramids like ancient temples, but with glass windows and lights inside.
https://imgur.com/a/iwsUc

Idea #2: Soviet architecture. Lots of big faceless modern buildings and unusual shapes.

Idea #3: Buildings modeled off of Brazil by Terry Gilliam, and the architect who built some of the locations, Ricardo Bofill.

What do you think about these styles? Do you like any of them? Do you have any other ideas? I really want to build the city with a distinct style from the start.

#2 looks really nice...if you got that into a mountain it would turn out well.

On a second note, please PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE let me help [just kidding, I suck at building.] Build this city at least 100k from spawn; probably like 150k otherwise you will get asshats that want to destroy it. Also, be careful who you trust.

Seems like everyone, people who live in the base included, like the Soviet style the most. I dug around some more and found a page full of interesting buildings in a similar style:

It goes on and on. I don't think we'll run out of things to build for a long time.

That's what I thought at first too, but it doesn't look like they're recruiting. More wanting input on what to build, and then to show off what they have built.

Some more potential architecture, this time from the credits sequence (0:00-1:17) of a 1968 Russian film. It mostly shows apartment buildings, which I think would make great living quarters. We're still living in log cabins, which doesn't match the modern style.

(It's also a really good movie in my opinion)

Alright, I've got some bad news. I got rid of my old bed before setting up a new one, so when I died I got sent all the way back to spawn. I had some enchanted items and about fifty bars of iron, so that just makes it worse.

It might be a little while before I can get back. Just the amount of materials I need to get there is pretty large if i don't want to die on the way, not to mention the travel time itself.

There are some ways we could use this to our advantage though. I wanted to create a biodome with jungle plants, for example, so I can get some while I'm out. Anyway, I'll still be on, so other base residents should message me ingame.

A few projects I started but didn't finish that base residents should be aware of:

1) A cleanstone path from Xestia's old tower to a mining station, which I was going to complete and put a minecart rail on

2) I started hollowing out some nearby cliffs, building inside, and putting up glass windows on the cliff face. I just started but I think it will look pretty cool

3) I still didn't put top floors/roofs on my two buildings, someone else might wanna finish that up for me since it might be a little bit before I'm back

4) This is a stretch, but I dropped a ton of materials in the really tall tower. If anyone sees them, grab them please, I don't want them to be wasted
