PvP tournament

I was thinking of having some sort of pvp tournament, on a separate server where everybody can have as many of whatever items they want (minus golden apples and bedrock and the sort,) and then fight each other 1 on 1 in a tournament. Held like once a month at most to keep it special. So you could try whatever weird combination of things you might want to try, without having to worry about losing any hard-earned stuff. This is sorta like ellidon's proxy wars (can't seem to find that thread,) but being 1 on 1 instead and being more rare. Perhaps even required some sort of fee on the regular server to join (like 5 diamonds to enter) and then the winner gets all the diamonds.

Nice idea! I think once a month would be a bit much though but we could host it as a christmas event. The only thing is that the admins would have to build an entirely new arena. Why not just host it on the mian server in the hunger games arena?

I might actually do this, I doubt I'd be willing to do it every month, but a 2011 champion and a 1 year anniversary champion and the such would probably be doable.

I'd definitely do it on a different server, so there's no possibility of somebody glitching out of the arena with 37 stacks of diamond blocks, to make it easier to have increased security to make sure nobody cheats (spoutcraft) and it makes it a lot easier to reset arena for each battle (hunger games arena is a pain to edit with worldedit, because it isn't square) and finally it would mean people just playing regularly wouldn't be bothered with announcements every 3 seconds.
