If someone has to vote to join they're just going to say fuck it and leave.

The server is dying and minecraft has been dying long before it.

I think we've been to conservetive and boring when it comes to ideas, just look at the server of a 10 year old who's got 50-200 players online, I'd want that. I remember when the server was full all the time back in the Beta days and I want that back!
That's because the 10 year olds use a fuckton of plugins, which is what is all the rage nowadays, perhaps because this game is reaching the end of its lifespan people are reaching for mods to keep it going, something this server does not have and will never have because of what this server is about.

Then maybe it's time to change
Good luck with convincing people on that one m8.

This server has always had its ups and downs. I remember in early 2011 it was almost always empty, then when summer came and we reached the frontpage of mcserverlist.net it was at 50/50 all the time. Just ask Rev, he complained so much about not being able to sleep the night away anymore.

I'm all up for ideas to make it more lively, but I wouldn't go so far as to turn it into some preteen shitcraft server just because we're having a slow period.

Indeed, I wouldn't want to see it come to that either, I was going to say let's see what occurs over the summer. But isn't the reason the server reached the frontpage because of a glitch in their site?

No, we got there fairly. Remember back then there weren't as many servers and none of those huge networks. We got kicked off the frontpage because of a glitch.

Ah, my bad, I mixed that up, I think you told me what happened ages ago, that's a damn shame.

If we change to the dime-a-dozen carebear hugbox build servers with donor perks and pay-for-admin, what makes this server worthwhile to play on?

If I wanted to waste my time with an even shittier community and bottom of the barrel admins and players, I would go play on Moocraft.

This will drive out 95% of potential new players if you have to do something just to play. It's like paying for a service, then having to jump through hoops to use your service.

That's a shit idea and all the possible ideas have already been passed around. The only thing we can do is wait for the kiddie infested horror that is summer and a player influx.

No new people are going to join if they have to vote before even logging in. Voting to get access to the pvp world might work though?
