It would bother me if every time I wanted to use a server feature, I have to minimize mineshit, go to the server's voting page, and cast a vote.
How would that get approved anyways?

Re: Is the server basicly dead?
As usual, I am opposed to any major changes to draw in more people. The fact is that this server is the victim of long term trends in the game that we have no control over. It's basically gone through a couple stages- an interesting new indie games that is trendy to try out, then for a while a regular popular game, and now, for some reason, a kid's game. People still play, they're just usually not in high school yet. I blame the graphical style on this. It's cute and has less blood than most games, so parents buy it for little kids instead of a first person shooter. I don't know if I'm right about this being the main reason or not, but it doesn't really matter, because the fact is that for whatever reason it has turned into a kid's game.
I think all we can do is try to get used to the lulls, cause there's not much we can do about them. Summer break will start in a few weeks, so we'll get new people then. If anyone wants to encourage the new players to stay, they could move to spawn in a few weeks and team up with new people.
I have found that the best way to do this is leave behind all your enchanted diamond gear, forget about making super good hidden bases, and just go to spawn and live like a noob. They appreciate people who treat them like equals to some degree, and people who feel like genuine team mates. If anyone seems like they're too young or too dickish to play here, just don't team with them, and there's a good chance they'll leave. Or kill them if you want.
My opinion is that preserving the character of the server and getting to know people already on here is more important than attracting a bunch of kids. Lately I've been spending most of my time building a city with Cinnabars, and just hanging out and talking to people on chat. I'd prefer more people, but sometimes you just have to tolerate playing with less, because there's very little we can do that doesn't hurt the server more than it helps it.

Actually, there is no blood at all in the game. The Zombie Pigman originally had blood on it, but it was removed because "muh minecrafts and kids game"
Mini, you're not going to attract new people to the server this way. They're going to see us as shills who just want ad revenue, regardless of how you try to explain it to them. Stop.

It's the franchising. When I first heard about Minecraft, it was in college from a fellow computer science classmate. Back then, not many people heard about it, and when they did it would be from word of mouth.and now, for some reason, a kid's game.
Nowadays there's a multimillion dollar franchise centered around it. There's merchandise, tshirts, events, advertizements, "pocket versions", tens of millions of players, millions of youtube retards, and loads of crap that separates it from what it once was. All the people that were drawn to it: the older and more mature crowd, the ones most likely to enjoy this server, have stopped playing because of it.
We should have known that it wouldn't last forever.

The realization that these kids have singlehandedly turned this game into another sheckles generator
