I have written a spoken word poem. Copies are 15 pages each, including title page. Due to the fact that this item will most likely only be an item on the shopping list of hardcore-book collectors looking for all forms of literature, I will allow access to my work to everyone.

See Me Through

Plastic, arsenic, money, I’ve swallowed them all.
A snap of a shutter, the turning of a kaleidoscope
Manifests your memories like a titanic breeze.

Limp to the beach, or swimming pool, afar
Retrieve those broken shards of memories
Crushed underfoot
Shattered by the coming of age
Have you found yourself?
Or did you try on your favorite mask at the party store.
A human-suit, make up its lore

The more you desire
The more you will tire
Walking down this crumbling cobble road
With no eyes, no ears and a broken leg.

Every day you waste your life staring at a screen.
He’ll let you.
Everyday you want to breathe.
He’ll let you.
And everyday that you feel to drag yourself from bed.
He’ll let you.
Superficial, skin-deep secrets objectify the people you call friends.
Ask yourself, are they tools which you use to walk through the halls without your eyes cast down?
Will they pry loose the iron bar cast over your eyes?
Cut the straps which bind you to the floor?
Why carve out your own augmented reality when reality gazes into your eyes?

Everyday that you want to live your life.
He’ll let you.

A phone is your life on rewind.
Spiraling through images, of another person’s life
Humans weren’t meant to communicate through texts and sexts.

Stop avoiding the stare of the beggar across the street.
Your eyes fixed upon the pavement.
You don’t have to pay him rent.
Or give him your bar of candy.
Bought with your cold hard cash.
But at least look him in the eye.
Validate his existence.
Stop your persistence
Fastidiously filtering faces from your virgin mind.
Intricately inserted ideology, to ignore those not kind.
Those made of leather straps and buckles.
They are human beings too.
Ignoring is not restoring,
Your mental composition
Your physical competition
You may have eyes and ears but you are still…
Broken from the blindness and deafness of your reality.
You are not Helen Keller.

Clawing yourself out of your own grave
And when you finally poke a hole in your facade
Savor that small telescope of light

Ignorance is not bliss
Wallowing in the fantasies that swallow your mind.
Supporting those who nourish your diseased principles

Do not leap over the fences.
But enter normally through the gate.
You can stand still, he can wait.
And everyday you want to collapse back in bed.
He’ll let you.
