I still don't see why it can't just be for damage taken from players. The main purpose is to prevent people from cheating at PvP right? The change should reflect that.

I guess like 5 seconds for a mob and 45 seconds for a player would be ok. It's just that functionally, what you're proposing adds more wait time than the amount of time it saves. It's completely contrary to the purpose of the suggestion. Why do you think you can come up with a shitty idea that isn't at all what Jay originally suggested and act like it's the only option?

Eh I mean the thread's gone dormant before. I think this idea is worth talking about because it has near unanimous support.

I've been busy this month starting college and stuff, so I took a break from the forums instead of sticking it out for another trench war, but that doesn't mean the suggestion is permanently dead. It's not like it's a thread from 2 years ago.

Let's just drop the tangential bullshit and talk about your idea. Most people take damage from mobs, falling, etc. more often than they take damage from other players. This means they're gonna notice pretty often that they're unable to /world because of this. It's going to be a consistent annoyance that people notice, and they're going to wonder why it was added.

So could you please just explain how it benefits the game to have to wait 45 seconds after taking damage from a mob to go to /world? Why does it need to be increased so much from the 5 block limit, which only takes a few seconds to get out of?

I really don't understand the point of this, is walking 50 blocks away from someone really that hard?

When you're at a crowded base it can be pretty annoying. There are times when walking 50 blocks away isn't easy, like if you're up on top of a building working on it, underground, travelling, etc. It's not uncommon to have to ask someone else or be asked to log off, or to both have to coordinate where exactly you'll move to so you can /world. Even if you move 50 blocks in one direction it's not like everyone else necessarily will stay still. Depending on the situation it can be a real hassle, and when you're with allies it doesn't really serve any gameplay purpose.

Sure, you could ask what the point of the change is, but why not ask why you need to be 50 blocks away from peaceful players in the first place? It's not a matter of what annoyances someone could put up with in a game, it's a matter of what annoyances they should put up with, considering the actual gameplay benefit. There are days when I put up with getting kicked every 20 minutes because of server lag, but that doesn't mean I think it's a good thing.

you know what's more annoying than distancing yourself from your fuckbuddies
having to travel several hundred kilometers to spawn

suck it up and deal with it

Sooo... you basically support an idea, and then when I ask you to explain your version of it, you give up on the entire thing?

If you're gonna act like a child about this we should just move on and discuss some ideas I have that I think you might like better:

1) Disable nether fast travel mechanic. Get rid of the thing where 1 block counts as 8 blocks and just makes the travel speed the same.

2) Disable enchants in the regular world as well as the PvP world

3) Also, remove the PvP world, it's unvanilla and makes it too easy for people to see each other ingame

4) Remove /tell and similar commands to make social engineering more difficult

5) Leave /coords in the game but make it post your coords in chat, so that everyone online can see them. To know your position you have to wait until only people you trust are online (this might take days)

6) Make it take 3x as long to remove any blocks, and 200x as long if they are a hard material such as stone or wood

7) Permanent deathban

8) Have mods spawn items everywhere to increase lag

9) Disable running

10) Lock server time at midnight

11) Make saplings illegal

12) Automatic kicks 3 times an hour, plus lag kicks

13) Ban literally everyone from the server and delete the backups, now instead of playing the game we hang out on the forum and alternatively complain/reminisce instead

I'm not trying to fool you, I'm explaining why your opinion is silly. All you're saying is "Let's make the game as unnecessarily shitty as possible without giving a single reason."
