Lets get back to the topic and discuss what would make players start voting for the server once again without having to give out items.

I liked Melvin's idea of voting giving an extra life in the deathban world.

How about this:

You score 3 (Or more, whatever) points each day you vote and with these points you can enter /event (if that still exists)
And once you have entered the event you lose 1 point

One of the cons is that you can only play limited amounts of times in/event
AND some people might complain since they still are too lazy to vote

Pros : server will get votes and climb the ladder. It's easy

We shouldn't really implement something that would prevent a player from access a server feature, even if they are too lazy to farm points each day.

We can definitely monopolize the votes by giving extra life but not all players enjoy playing on hardcore AND it wouldn't be hardcore anymore.
The most definite way to bribe a players to start voting is by providing a free item or points which they can spend on something without having to use any restriction. I have never seen any other server like ours which makes it really hard to get an idea from, We need to be a little bit more creative.
