Flying machine in 1.8
Is the flying machine also be banned, like nether roof travel? Because it's basically the same thing, besides you have overview below all the time. It's obvious you don't spend hours searching for bases like that.(But if i was a determined griefer, then i would). This machine isn't very fast too. But still, if I would be on that machine and afk, I still would come back and see around time to time, then afk again for some period. Building to near rare biomes and overground is then out of a question, these places wil be checked for bases. Just a thought, tell you guys, what you think. Cheers

No, it isn't banned.
We've had this discussion before, you can find it somewhere.
But basically it's not really comparable to nether roof travel. It's much much slower, and your view distance is still quite limited. I think people underestimate how big the map really is.

yeah if you can only see 100 blocks side to side you'd have to work a grid if you're actually searching for something. Also i worry that an unwanted log out would make you lose you're flying machine on multiplayer. but the speed is so slow it's mostly a novelty machine.

Re: Flying machine in 1.8
I'm not happy about flying machines myself, but they're obviously intended to be used by Mojang and don't rely on any kind of glitch to create. I don't see why an intentional element included in vanilla would count as a hack or glitch exploit.
Actually, 1.8 has several changes I dislike, but what are we gonna do, stop updating?

And flying machines really aren't even that fast, the fastest seem to all work at around 3 m/s.

it's just a legit method of safe travel, it's only marginally better than walking and observing your surroundings
the chance of someone flying one directly over or within 100 blocks of your base is astronomical, especially if your base is located diagonal to the origin of the map.

Yes, that. I don't want any more updates if they're coming from microsoft. We should boycott new updates and stay on 1.8 from here on.A. Pippenger wrote:...Actually, 1.8 has several changes I dislike, but what are we gonna do, stop updating?
Re: Flying machine in 1.8
The flying machines are so glitchy I doubt they'll even be used for legit travel, let alone searching for bases.
