The Lag

Post by hugobros3 »

It.
Keeps.
Fucking.
Happening.

Freezes. For seconds or minutes. Either result in timeout or die. Even kills the website.

Me and some friends have come back to this server a week ago ( wich is clearly one of our favourites one by it's "historicall culture" ; it's map it's players and stories that come from, all that crap well you got it already ), we've made a new base, we play everyday for hours, we PvP in /world, basically repopulating the server a bit, and we'd like to do be able to do it without severe crashes/lags every now and then.

I know donations aren't really hight here, but I'm wondering what kind of server we are running on, and what do you pay for it. ( Maybye you can have more for your money ). If it could help I can even propose to let Yukar run the server on mine ( 8gb/i5/100mbs/2tb raid/north america ), even thought he'd be right to not wanting to give a random guy all the precious map and stuff. Or maybye it's down to huge mobfarms, or some other 1.8-related crap. But it kills the fun and it has to be solved.

Thanks

We're running on oneprovider.com's 20 euro server in Paris.

It's true that the server is underpowered, particularly after 1.8 increased the requirements so much. Upgrading the hardware would probably reduce the lag significantly, but I'm not really ready to pay that myself, and no matter how good the hardware is there'll always be some lag.

Well, we use a server from these guys : http://www.kimsufi.com/en/index.xml ( for same price you can get an i5 and 16Gb ) and it holds 25+ players with zero lag. Thought it runs in 1.7 with a 1.8 compatibility mod. The weird thing is that Minecraft server crashes also kill the webserver, this shouldn't happen, maybye it's an issue with swapping or whatever
