The Appealing System

Post by alexhouse »

I understand that there is a zero tolerance policy for hacking.
But why is it referred to as the "appeal" area rather than dispute? Appealing a ban means nothing if there is a no second chance policy. Disputing would be like arguing against a wrongful ban.

I think the idea is that if someone is unbanned it's not necessaily because they didn't hack but because the evidence was not strong enough so it is a kind of second chance but if some one is clearly caught there are no second chances for "i didn't know the rules" or "I accidently hit fly" I don't know if that realy changes your point about word use. just thought i'd clear up second chances

Code: Select all

To apply for the removal of a cause from an inferior to a superior judge or court for the purpose of reexamination of for decision.
Appealing means you appeal the decision of an OP to ban you, to me. The OP is the inferior judge, I am the superior judge. If you receive a guilty verdict from a court of law, you appeal that verdict to a superior court, meaning you're saying that the inferior courts decision was unjust and that you're not really guilty.

As far as I know, the word appeal is used properly here.
