i always thought that was the point of the nether and then the end. Like the portal was ntaking you below the bed rock of the earth into the magma region of the under crust. (though i think the underside of the nether should be everlasting lava, voids are such a cop out in gaming universes, like invisible walls.) And the end represents a portal to space, the world height limit being like some kind of gravity limit you can't break free of. Endless space would be pointless unless you could travel to other planets. But i've often thought that much more could be done with the -y limit if they made overworlds finite globes. So in summery this idea is dumb but in a different type of minecraft universe where you can travel to other servers through space or to the other side of the planet through the ground, I'd like that.

much bigger. Earth is 40,000K around even at my base I've hardly come close to the other side of the earth.

What about creating your own mini-planet? Or death star?

Yes you are right. But whole minecraft and all mods etc. would be faster if they be written in C++, not Java.
Don't be stupid and please keep this ontopic.

Adding an extra dimension would certainly make it easier to hide bases. Whether that's better or not I haven't quite decided on yet. It would still be pretty awesome though.

It's already easy as hell to hide bases if you know what you're doing. Adding another dimension in which you can increases guesswork expodentally. Thus the only way of coming across a base reliably would be social engineering, which would also require certain conditions, such as having an inside man on the base or bribery.

Hey lyser, you seem pretty upset.

I don't know. I think people would be prone to building bigger underground bases. They also won't want to wait 10 minutes to climb up a ladder to get to the surface, so I think people would limit how deep they'd want to go. It might make it easier to hide a base, but I don't think by much. They also wouldn't feel the need to spread out so far across the map, so it would concentrate people closer around spawn.

Piston Elevators, Nethervators, Minecart Vators, boatvators. There's plenty of autonoimous ways to travel up as well as down/
