Terraria

Wot? Do tell, my middle son has it and it always looked kind of.. cheesy and rather simplistic. Have you played it in some depth? I'm guessing he'd love to play it with me.. or maybe not, he's getting to the age where Dad turns from "coolest guy on the planet" to "brainless moron who embarasses me by his very existence". Either way the only way I've been able to make MC even remotely interesting again is to set my own parameters; ie no pots, no enchants, no base. I'm roaming and building and griefing and enjoying myself again, for a while.

Its 2D but it relies more upon exploration and advancement rather than building your own stuff. Once you get endgame it gets a bit boring.

I got it for the xbox. It's a good game, just not my style. It's 2d exploration and heavily like lone said is based on enhancement. You can start off with a wooden stick and eventually move up to awesome shit like lazer dildos and hover boot.

there's a spiritual successor called starbound coming out soon, i'd check that out if you get into terraria.
