Wait, so you like 1984 because you take it as an instruction manual? Ok, a bit odd, but most people think of it as a warning.

And Piggy dies. They all die. The kids go and kill each other and the pigs. And Piggy.

You sir are more and more of an trollish moron each day.

In such a society, the "elite" are constantly sticking knives in each other's backs, scheming and plotting to consolidate or gain power. The "proles" are chattel, leading lives best described as nasty, brutal, and short.

Morals and rights do not exist in a vacuum; they are things we have decided to have and decided to give each other. In the societies you are so trollishly idealizing, there are neither. There is only raw, naked power and ambition. Perhaps you are familiar with the most chilling quote from 1984:

"If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stomping on a human face -- forever."

Idiot.

When I was 11 I was, playing outside, watching my favorite cartoons on tv.
Not getting into an internet debate. Now go finish your juicy juice.

Nope, Big Brother is, like Silas said, an idea. A mere concept illustrating an "ideal" totalitarian state to better describe the point George Orwell was trying to say. Simply put, you need ridiculous examples to explain subtle ones in real life. Totalitarianism isn't as big as it was in the 1940's/50's (especially in the West) and thankfully 1984 didn't happen. Brave New World is an entirely different beast. It takes the logical step by saying Big Brother doesn't need raw power to sway the masses, he merely needs to appease them with bread and circus. While I wouldn't say American society is a perfect "BNW" society, it has some of the elements Huxley illustrated. The dangers he presented are very real.

I would have hoped that, by now we would stop trying to set lyser straight when he's trying to do this on purpose.
