Re: Finland Independence Day
Always found Finland's history in the past 1000 years to be rather interesting. Prior to Christian forces moving into the country, it was a paganistic society still in their equivalent of an Iron Age. Their language group is not Indo-European, and are linked with their sister languages Hungarian and Estonian (a few others, but those are not in Europe). During the 1200's, the Swedish moved east in hopes of securing Finland. They succeeded, but not for long. The Russians, who before 1500 were warring principalities that were subservient to the Mongol Hordes, were now a unified Russian state that had turned the tables on the Mongols. But they did not wish to simply expand east, and looked upon Finland. They kicked the Swedish out and took Finland for themselves. It stayed this way until a rise of indepedence-oriented groups during the later half of the 19th century gave Finland some autonomy. But Finland did not get full independence until the year 1917. The First World War was occurring, and the Russians were defeated immensely by the more powerful, though not more numerous Germans and Austro-Hungarians. A large revolution plagued the land, one for the people and for the workers. It became the first truly communist nation, and it became a good test on how well the new ideology would work. You know the rest. But Germany wanted more than a Red Russia, they wanted a free Finland as well. So in the terms of peace, Finland was freed. It wasn't because the Germans cared about Finnish culture, or because they felt bad for them, but because it would hurt the Russians. That was the only reason. Either way, it's an interesting history. Especially for an American who finds monarchies really weird.

Re: Finland Independence Day
I don't think that's exactly how it went...
The Russians had no intention of taking over Finland. Originally their intention was to force Sweden to the embargo against Great Britain and they took Finland because Sweden was too close to as it is now known as Saint Petersburg and another reason was that the sea fort Viapori could have been a threat to Russia.
Finland had autonomy the whole time it was a part of Russia.
Vladimir Lenin gave Finland independence because he believed Finland would change it's mind and become a part of Russia again, though that did not happen since the communists lost the civil war in Finland, because the Germans helped.

Re: Finland Independence Day
My apologies. I guess I was wrong in that regard. Still an interesting history.

Yukar doesn't care if it's censored mini, otherwise I would have flooded this thread with hentai censored with lyser's face.

Then edit it so that there's no more image, thickwit.
And mini, if you really want to be the swirling center of a fecal shitstorm, be my guest.
