Of course not. But does that mean we shouldn't try at all?
Re: Change the Spawn
Well, what kind of spawn would people prefer then? Any suggestions for a spawn?

Re: Change the Spawn
The old sandstone castle was the best I've seen, and I think a lot of people would like to have it put back. Ideally people would make some new spawns on the creative server, but it's been down for a long time. We're trying to stick to spawns built by people who play here, right?

if you're not going to get it what's the point in trying thenA. Pippenger wrote:Of course not. But does that mean we shouldn't try at all?
you have solidified your stand on it: I'm going to try knowing that it won't work and thus waste effort

Re: Change the Spawn
I don't think it will entirely fix the problem, but I think it may bring more new players, and more is better than less. Is that really hard to understand?
And as for it being "wasted effort", it isn't really that much. I don't think it's really that hard for Yuk or someone to reset spawn. We do it regularly anyway. I don't think the Eden spawn was ever meant to be permanent, so how is this really more effort?
If we're going to ask someone to build a new spawn, that would be some work for them, but presumably they'd enjoy it and like having a chance to use their skills. How is that a bad thing?
What you're basically saying is "anything that involves any effort at all that doesn't 100% fix the server shouldn't be done", and I don't see why such an extreme position is necessary, or at all helpful.

Re: Change the Spawn
"what was" was about ten regular players
you're lucky to get three

The server isn't doing nearly as badly as you think. There's 3 on as I'm posting this, which is lower than it has usually been these last few weeks. We've had 5-10 people on pretty regularly.

five to ten unique people per day you meanA. Pippenger wrote:The server isn't doing nearly as badly as you think. There's 3 on as I'm posting this, which is lower than it has usually been these last few weeks. We've had 5-10 people on pretty regularly.
and that's being generous and counting people who play on alternate accounts for whatever reason

Yes. We're not all that far short of the minimum we need for a healthy server, and some days we reach it. I don't know why you insist on taking an "all or nothing" approach... more players is better than less, so we should try to get more as long as it isn't a huge amount of effort and doesn't change what people like about the server.
This change is a pretty small effort that was bound to happen sooner or later anyway, and is if anything a return to tradition, not a change to the server. And a lot of people on the server would prefer a nicer looking spawn anyway, regardless of how many new people it brings, so I don't understand why you're so opposed to it.

Re: Change the Spawn
I don't understand the whole server is dead thing. People play on it and care about it, so obviously it's not dead. A server doesn't need to have 100+ players on 24/7 to be "alive".
