Re: Goodbye windows, hello linux
Well i'm deffinitly liking this more than windows it may be a hassle finding ways around things that don't support linux but where there's a will there's a way and the linux comunity seems very willing and able. The thing i hate is if you don't own the windows software you shouldn't have it and i've never had a computer that came with a windows disk so this is the first time i've actualy got a legale computer

Found this little tid-bit
As per the release note of Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, Ubuntu users can have Sun Java by executing the following piece of code on the command line.
sudo add-apt-repository "deb http://archive.canonical.com/ lucid partner"
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jre sun-java6-plugin
sudo update-alternatives --config java
This will install sun-java6 packages from Canonical Partner Repository. Enjoy Sun Java on Ubunu 10.04 Lucid.
The information is provided in the Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Lucid release note. You can read the details about Sun Java installation in Ubuntu and other details as well.
I don't think it worked quite right i got stuck on a terms agreement after download and didn't seem to be able to go any further. But it seemed to be the right way to get it i may need t uninstall other java first?

a window with the terms came up and i could scroll up and dow with arrows and there was a <Ok> at the bottom but i couldn't find a way to hit ok but all in all i'm not too worried any more cuz i found f11 fullscreen cleans up the cursor problem.

My software center became unable to install/uninstall the error mentioned java so i think this ^ was what caused it.

Re: Goodbye windows, hello linux
i'm 100% ubuntu now on laptop and pc. now my biggest problem is ctl+alt+delete doesn't bring up a task maneger which is the only way i know of to stop a frozen program. i tried a downloaded task manager once but without the c/a/d over ride it was kind of pointless in case of freezing. Any ideas any one?

You can bind commands to key combinations somewhere in the Keyboard settings. Bind gnome-system-monitor to c+a+d there.
