Who doesn't? And then there's reality. And then there's what we thunk is reality. And what we're told is reality. And what we would think is reality if we could escpae reality. And now imagine how little sense I would make while making all the sense in the world if I were as stoned as Rev and his pot.

any how i've always thought this is the way SMP spawning should be on any server like naturaly seeing as if you have a single spawn site it would need mods to protect it any how. but that's somthing i'd have to take up with mojang and they don't listen to any one

Regarding randomized spawning being non-vanilla: the official server (yes, the one from minecraft.net) has a randomized spawn. The radius is just smaller than this proposed by rev.

oh yeah now that you mention it i do remember i remember playing with server software before and it was like probably a 64x64 sqare to spawn in. I forgot about that. But like you said it is a bit smaller than what i'm suggesting

Well, if minecraft's offiial server has it like that, wouldn't doing the sane be upholding the name of "Simplicity"? And in SSP, you don't always spawn at x0 z0, I've spawned as many as 700 blocks out in each direction. Would this not make the un-vanilla argument invalid?

it is closer to vanilla than a protected spawn and more so the smaller it is also i think natural spawning also finds a safe spot of ground above ground so it would be safe without extra mods so it would be just an extension of the natural spawn zone which is only so griefers can't easily zero in on it and overly grief it. Which people in suport of griefing/anarchy should be on board with since the current system is all orderly and grief free

I remember when I first came to Simplicity, I was shocked when I saw the spawn. It's massively non-vanilla, with floating texts all around it (like "pvp castle"), with build protection etc.

I absolutely love Rev's idea and can't see any sane argument against it. Especially since most arguments were like:
worldruler086 wrote:this would basically put the nail on the coffin for the concept of it being vanilla, but sure. the only issue is that now, being 5k from spawn is irrelevant.
which has been proven invalid. Randomized spawn is way more vanilla than a central one.

OBJECTION!

Regular minecraft spawns all players in the same place. Deal with it.

But this is minecraft.net... Shouldn't that be as simple as it gets?
