omg, consensus! consensus!

whether you decide to be merciful, or not, I do suggest that you clarify your posted rules to apply to any texture pack or other method that would allow blocks that are opaque/solid in the default texture pack to be seen through or detected. "Or detected" is important, because clients receive information about all the blocks in the loaded chunks. Thus you could develop a client side program that simply wrote down the coords of all the diamond blocks in the loaded chunks. Technically you would not be seeing through any blocks, but you would still be detecting them...

another method would be to generate a copy of the map using the same seed and locate diamonds or other ores on the copy map, offline, then log on and mine them on the simpvp map. now, that would require knowing the map seed, which I doubt is public info-- but it might be (I haven't fished for it), yet I'm guessing you guys would consider that to be cheating, even though it does not expressly violate any of your rules.

I'm content to hang out in spawn and chat with Severate and get melted periodically by Herald as he continues to mine out a massive cliff around the spawn area (at least I think that is what he's doing as I can't see crap from jail)... at least for another few weeks while I do my "time"... but, if you can find it in your hearts at some point to consider my debt to society as having been paid, and release me on probation or something, then I promise I will abide not only by the rules but by the spirit of the rules.

I must admit I felt pretty bad when I stumbled on this post: http://simplicitypvp.net/forum/viewtopi ... it=texture after I had been jailed. Had I known it was clearly off limits to use a texture pack that wasn't on the list, I wouldn't have done it. More clarity in the rules posted on the front page of the website would help.

Yours Truly,

Dionysus "Jailbait" Nine

You must lack reading comprehension, because that thread isn't for texture packs you must use, but a thread by one of our players of texture packs he made.

Are you seriously so daft that you think using a texture pack that makes non-transparent blocks transparent isn't the equivalent of xray? In the case of people bothering to get the seed, xray their version, and find the coords of diamonds, you run into two problems.

1. This map is severely old. The map has several "patches" of different map algorithms, due to the fact that we haven't reset the map. You'd have to know where the current "new" map is, and it ain't near spawn.

2. You have to assume the diamonds haven't been found yet.

Even if this wasn't an issue, this form of cheating is so rare and convoluted that we'd have an easier time and a bigger pay-off going after people like you.

For fucks sake, you're banned and no amount of tl;dr is going to change my mind, and most likely not anyone else's.

As entertaining as he is we don't have any need for more fools at our court.
Admitting to using any kind of xray is enough for me to seal, lock and atomize the locksmith.
