Dead for no reason?

I'm playing minecraft last night, my whole inventory full due to my travelling to another base. My eyes are starting to droop and realize i better log off before i die from carelessness. I make a 360 degree look around just to make sure there's nothing around me that would kill me right away when i log back on, as i always do. I wake up this morning and think "i really want to finish my journey and get to my old base." And so i log on with the screen "You are dead!"

I do remember it being rather laggy when i logged off and had to stop every once in a while when there were chunk errors to keep from falling off the world. Any suggestions as to what could have happened?

I don't want to be a bitch about it, but is there any way i could be compensated for it? I had some pretty nice enchanted things (Picks, Swords, etc.)

I was one of the few people on last night with Kevin, I think Zhaby15 was on as well but I saw him log off and there was no death announcement before or after he logged, so I know if wasn't from a mob or falling or carelessness on his part. Just saying compensation or not it was not Kevin's fault.

Talk to yukar, the most he'd be able to do for you is find your death coords. Usually if you're out in the middle of no where your shit will last there forever until you pass that way again.
