Minecraft should have infinite vertical height

This would be awesome. Imagine building in space or thousands of miles beneath the earth's crust.

It would actually reduce lag, since you'd be loading cubic chunks instead of cylinder chunks all the way down to bedrock. Water wouldn't be a problem because it would stop at an unloaded chunk.

Kind of like hiding your base 2 million blocks out from spawn. Except harder because you'd need 87428340746820935629 stacks of blocks plus ladders to get up that high.

If Minecraft would be coded in C++, this vertical thing would be possible.

Like I said, mod makers already did this. Using Java. If mod makers can do it, so can Jeb and friends.

Not to mention that it would render xray mod almost useless, since with cubic chunks they couldn't just run around and scan everything from top to bottom anymore.

Also, server admins could still set a limit if they want, letting them choose rather than dealing with an arbitrary hard coded limit. To me, there isn't a logical reason for the way it is now other than laziness of the programmers.

Stfu lyser, this is not related to the language used, but to the design and optimisation of the code. Java 7 runs almost as fast as native c++ code.
