Map Reset

Post by utuoo2234 »

With the massive changes of biomes I think we should reset the map so that players will be able to see the new biomes and plants. Here is an overview of the new update coming up, 1.7: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q52-M2rkG6o Please leave suggestions below!

On the one hand, I'd say no because we have a ton of creations in the current map that would devastate people if it were to be lost, and there's always the option of venturing out further if you want these new features. On the other hand, a change of pace would be nice. I may be a bit biased, since I have nothing super special in this world and I don't find myself easily attached to things, but surely there's a decent argument for both sides. Fairly indifferent here.

No, please.

You want to see new biomes, play SP or go travel a bit. One of the nicest things about simplicity is the rarity of map resets.

Yes but having new items on simplicity will affect the server. Also you would have to travel hundredds of thousands of blocks to see the new items and many people don't even want to do that.

We've the map from like the 1.8 update before ender portals and we've managed. This update in my opinion wouldn't be enough for a map reset. You literally have to go under 30k for new chunks.

No people have gone way past 100k blocks which means that those chunks are already loaded

Not all of the chunks out to 100k are loaded, just in a few directions. It is agreeably a pain in the ass trying to find new chunks nowadays.
