Because Krokodil is a shit load cheaper than actual heroin. So they have little choice. They can't exactly fight the addiction. Heroin, and Krokodil for that matter, is a very hard drug. Once you take it regularly you can't just stop. And they don't consume, they inject it. That's why their arms are rotting from extreme necrosis vs. their insides.

You can always stop. It will be hard and painful but you can stop the addiction.

If you think it's that easy you obviously don't know how difficult giving up is. You'll get withdrawals. You could easily die in these withdrawals. Your body will become paranoid and aggressive because your body is not used to functioning without the drug. It is not as simple as cutting cold turkey. It's going through hell for at least 3 weeks to a month, and if you give in, you have to do it again. That's why most people have to do it gradually.

I never said it was going to be easy. I said it was going to be hard and painful. Personally, if I were in those guys shoes, I would rather try to stop the addiction and live another life, than consuming something that will rot and eat my skin and internal organs.
