Re: [Serious] Help me finding english lessons online
I can't believe I'm doing this but your mistake, while apparent to English professors, is something most English speakers fuck up on. I'll help you. Imagine someone asked this question, "(Who or Whom) ate all the cookies?" You know who did it, but how would you answer? Your answer would probably be "He ate those cookies". Note "He". If your answer is he/she, you use "who". If the question was instead "(Who or Whom) did you go with to the prom?" your answer wouldn't be something with "she" (not unless you made a very awkward), it'd be "I'm going with her". Note the "Her". If your answer includes "Him/Her", you use "whom". Both of those answers (2 and 4) will have him/her responses.
Why is this? Who is the subject? When someone asks a question with Who, that person is the subject. When they say Whom, YOU are the subject but they want to know who else was with you. Does that make sense? I can say this however, most English speakers make this mistake ALL THE TIME, and will generally know what you're trying to say. Most of the time they use Who when they should have used Whom, not the other way around, however.
