Mod Suggestions

Post by Commander4726 »

Hi,

I have just recently joined the server and have been playing ever since. I really enjoy it so far, and hope to even more in the future.

I have a few suggestions that I think might interest some of you:

1. Citadel
2. Prison Pearl
3. Snitch Block

These are quite useful mods, here's how they work:

1. Citadel---- Citadel is a block protection mod that provides a level of protection relative to the material used to create the protection. There are two linked concepts that Citadel uses to provide protection - reinforcement and security level.

Concepts-

Reinforcement
A reinforcement provides protection to a block from being broken. Each type of reinforcement material provides a different number of protections, with a protection being used up during each block break event. For example, if you protect a glass block with an iron ingot, you will have to break the glass block 250 times before it is actually broken.

Security Level
A reinforced block which is considered securable (configurable but includes anything openable like a door or fence gate, and any containers like furnaces and chests) can also have its allowed access limited to the individual which placed the block or a group to which they belong.

Groups
Groups can be used to allow access to multiple people at once. You can create and manage several groups and give them permissions on your fortifications.

Modes-

Reinforcement
In this mode, a player can reinforce already existing blocks. To start, type /ctreinforcement (or /ctr) followed by an optional security level. If no security level is specified, blocks are secured at the private level. Once in this mode, hold a valid reinforcement material in your hand and click on the block to reinforce it. To prevent chat spam, only the first reinforcement is announced.

Single block mode
To provide feature compatibility with LWC, you can enter single block reinforcement mode by typing /ctprivate, /ctgroup, or /ctpublic. These are aliases for /ctreinforcement followed by the corresponding security level, with the exception that once a block is reinforced, reinforcement mode is disabled.

Fortification
In this mode, a player can place blocks that are reinforced. This is useful for building reinforced structures, or placing a lot of reinforced securable blocks. To enter this mode, hold a valid reinforcement material in your hand and type /ctfortify (or /ctf) followed by an optional security level. If no security level is specified, blocks are secured at the private level.

Information
In this mode, a player can easily see the status of all reinforce blocks by interacting with them. To enter this mode, type /ctinfo. (or /cti)

Bypass
Can be active alongside any other mode. In this mode, the player will bypass all reinforcements that they are able to access, so that blocks can be broken normally. The chance that they will receive the reinforcement resource back is (durability / material strength). To toggle this mode, type /ctbypass. (or /ctb)

Normal
To reset placement mode to normal, type /ctoff (or /cto) This will reset your placement mode, security level, and turn bypass mode off. Normal mode actually does allow a minimal free level of protection.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Materials
None (default) strength 5
STONE has strength 25
IRON_INGOT has strength 250
DIAMOND has strength 1800

Best Practices
•Fortify mode is best because it protects everything as you go, you don't have to go back over it afterward.
•Place double checks while in fortify mode. It will add fortification to both sides of the chest, and since both sides must be broken on a double chest, it gives you double the protection!
•You can fortify things you want others to be able to use in public mode, this way they can use it, but not steal it.

Citadel will be useful especially since this is an anarchy server. Players can protect their own builds by themselves without the help of admins or moderators. It slows down the greif process exponentially, but doesn't make it impossible.

Prison Pearl--- PrisonPearl allows players to imprison and control other players through the use of ender pearls. If you kill a player with an ender pearl in your hotbar, the pearl is converted to a prison pearl, and the player is imprisoned in the end (or any dimension you want it to be). You must then secure the pearl from anyone who might wish to free the evildoer. You can also elect to use your prisoner as slave, by holding his pearl and summoning him from the end. He is bound to the pearl, and will die and return to the end if he attempts to flee.

Imprisoning-
Players are imprisoned when they die and have taken sufficient (configurable) damage from a player who has one or more ender pearls placed in his hotbar. The person who dealt the most damage to the player gets one pearl converted into a prison pearl. If a player stops taking damage for a configurable a period of time, his damage log is reset and he will not be imprisoned if he dies.

Securing Pearls
A pearl is only secure when placed in an inventory block, such as a chest or dispenser. A prison pearl in a players inventory will be freed if that player logs out. A prison pearl left on the ground will be freed if it despawns, or if the chunk containing it is unloaded. A burned or lava'd prison pearl will also be freed.

Freeing players
To free a player, simply throw his prison pearl, or use the /ppfree command with the pearl in your inventory. If the player is online and free tppearl is set to true, the player will be teleported to your location. If not, he will be respawned normally in the overworld.

Using Slave Labor
Use the ppsummon command with a pearl in your inventory to summon that player back to the real world. This player can do anything as he pleases, but if he travels too far from the pearl he will begin to take damage (about 10+ blocks). You can place the pearl in a chest if you think it is secure enough to prevent the prisoner from freeing himself. If he dies for any reason, he will be respawned in the end. You can reward your slave by using the ppreturn command, which sends him back to the end where he was with his inventory intact. A bad slave can instead be punished by using the ppkill command, which will put him back at the end spawn with no inventory.

Be careful not to allow your slaves to come in to contact with other people, because they could be stolen! Simply re-imprison an enslaved player to obtain their prison pearl, and use them for your own needs or free them on the spot.

Rescue missions
An imprisoned player can at any time locate his pearl with the pplocate command. Any interested parties can then attempt to break in to the pearls storage location to free it. Prisoners can also use ppbroadcast to inform friends on the outside of their pearls location.

Commands
/ppl or /pplocate locates a prisoner's prison pearl
/ppf or /ppfree [player] frees the pearl
/pps or /ppsummon [player] summons a prisoner
/ppr or /ppreturn [player] returns a prisoner to the end, inventory intact
/ppk or /ppkill [player] instantly kills a prisoner, sending them to the end with no inventory
/ppb or /ppbroadcast [player] broadcast your pplocates to the given player automatically.

This mod is especially interesting because players can use this as "handcuffs" if another player is greifing/murdering, where everyone is their own "police" in a true anarchic society.

Snitch Blocks--- A snitch block is basically a security camera (jukebox) and records every block-interaction a player makes in a certain area.

Basics
A Snitch block is used to “snitch” on those that enter a 21m^3 cube around the snitch block. All jukeboxes are snitch blocks, which requires a diamond to make.

To place a snitch block, simply place a jukebox and it will automatically record all entry by players into a 21m^3 volume and all block-manipulations that said players do inside of that volume.

To view the log of your snitch block, be within its snitch radius and type ”/snitch”(exclude quotes) into chat, and one page of the snitch-block's log will be displayed. To view another page type "/snitch more" and it will show the next page of log, assuming there is anything to show. If no player has entered the volume that your snitch-block watches, then there will be no log to display, thus it will simply not output anything to your chat.

To allow other players to see entry alerts on your snitch blocks, you can use the command ”/snitch allowall [name]”. This will also allow them to pass by your snitches without triggering them and will allow them to bypass your bumper field protection. To allow players past an individual snitch, point at the snitch block and type ”/snitch allow [name]”.

The jukebox is still usable to play music discs.

Best Practices
•Place the Snitch where it will cover the whole area of concern.
•Place multiple snitches if you need to cover larger areas.
•You can type /snitch visualize to see the coverage area.
•Use /snitch setname to give your area a custom name.

•Diamond reinforce the snitch block itself.
•Surround the snitch block by other diamond reinforced blocks.
•Hide the snitch and its surrounding reinforcements in places that are unlikely to be discovered.

This helps players whom were greifed and want to find out who did it and possibly bring them to justice via PrisonPearl.

Again, these are a few suggestions that I think will help this server and its players a lot and make the anarchy experience more enjoyable. I appreciate your time and hope you consider it.

Thank you.

Why so hostile? It was a mere suggestion that could have been responded to with a simple yes or no. If you want to be completely vanilla, so be it. I'm sorry I gave my time to try to help you all out.

No need to flame the guy. Commander, the point of this server is to have unintrusive and simple semi-vanilla minecraft play. In our view, there are too many servers out there that ruin the plain vanilla experience by overloading their servers with mods to the point where it's no longer minecraft. Those mods sound interesting and might be fun to test out, but they aren't right for this server. Maybe you should start your own anarchy-based server with those mods and have people from simpvp come check it out. They will never be installed here, though.

You did a good job on explaining the mods and not being a faggot about it.

However, all this shit is far too complicated and makes people with turbo bases and broken iron farms so difficult to break into that it's not even worth it.

Imprisoning players makes getting killed an even worse experience.

And snitches get stitches.

I'm guessing you took this idea from Civcraft. (A popular server with these plugins) I'm not sure if anyone else is interested, but maybe we could start a simplicitypvp team on there?

I suppose the point has been delivered across. As morlock said, we try our best to keep the server as close as much to vanilla minecraft therefor these mods are unlikely to be implemented to the server.

How popular is this civcraft server? That could be a fun idea, Melvin.

These mods are originally from Civcraft, yes. But they have around 100 players on average every day.
