Thanks man. I think the last time I seriously played was around 1.4 or 1.5, and I just lost interest after that. Yeah 1.8 runs like shit for me now. My PC is even a decent gaming rig, can run Skyrim on max settings with shaders and other shit. But not Minecraft, and Optifine does nothing to help it.

When 1.8 came out I initially thought maybe my gfx card had melted or my RAM exploded or something terrible was happening to my machine, but all my other games are still running just fine (well, "fine" for my budget gaming rig anyway).
Still hoping optifine will at least make things playable, but not holding out much hope. :\
