So as the amount of players has been declining and the remaining players go further and further from each other, the pvp has more or less been killed here. I have noticed the two suggestions calling for a world boundary, but as there is also opposition to it I'm not going to make any decision on it whatsoever, but instead wait and see what happens.
This thread is gonna be about how to get the pvp going, without adding a world boundary (but I'm not saying I won't add a world boundary, just that the debate/suggestion for a world boundary belongs in the other thread), any suggestion, - no matter how wild - will be considered, so if you have any idea for how to get the pvp going please do post it here.
and.. if anybody comes up with a great suggestion there might be some reward in it for them ;)
Suggestions to get the pvp rolling

Re: Suggestions to get the pvp rolling
I've been hosting events every day and PvP has increased significantly. However, natural PvP is always important to have.
Xestia's city is helping for sure.
Also speaking of the opposition to the map limit- there really hasn't been any opposition to the +/- 5k Map Limit, and tons of positive response. I honestly think that a map limit is the only surefire way to increase PvP without completely de-vanilla-izing the server (if that's a word :D)
We need to modify the spawn city IMO. I don't think that the spawn area should be high up. We should also add a small platform around the protected area which serves as essentially a makeshift fistfight arena (like the old spawn). We need to reduce the protected area, and of course, that's going to mean we need to move the event city outside of spawn (it's going to get ridiculous crowded soon).
A major incentive for increasing PvP would be adding kill streaks. There's a certain thrill in getting a 5-kill streak, or a 20-kill streak.
I think lots of people complain a lot about "spawn rats," I don't see why they have a problem with people in all diamond armor running around spawn. Any person can get out of spawn pretty easily, all you have to do is sprint outside, nobody is going to chase you the entire way. The people who run around spawn are also being bold- they're willing to risk their entire equipment to have some fights.
Spawn rats used to be a problem because tons of people would just sit in protected area all day long. That won't happen if we just leave a tiny protected area that you can't go back up to...
We need to add a leaderboard as well, for who has the most kills, K/D ratios, event wins, etc.
Speaking of rewards, if you like my ideas, protect my event city plox? There's many reasons why I don't want it in spawn. Also, I'm not sure if you can protect/unprotect individual blocks- but I'll need you to do that for me, so we can play CTF, Spleef, TNT Dodge, and tons of other games which are unplayable because the event city is at spawn.

Re: Suggestions to get the pvp rolling
I agree the spawn should be moved down a bit, but not to ground level, having it high up gives you a good view of the surrounding area.
Kill streaks/stats and so on would be greatly appreciated.
Spawn rats are people who abuse the spawn protection, with the current spawn there are none and so it isn't a problem.
Why would you want the protected area to be made smaller?
I thought you were OP, why do you need help getting it protected? //wand and then select the area it's in, then just /region define eventplace

Re: Suggestions to get the pvp rolling
I'll lower the spawn tower when I get around to it.
I won't have the time to make any playerstats plugin, I barely have enough time to check the forums and restart the server a couple times a day lol
But if either of you make or find one I'll add it.
To avoid repeating Xestia's exact words, for what reason would you want the protected area to be made smaller?
and again: Just protect the place yourself (as long as it's far from spawn)

LOL I didn't know I could protect blocks myself, well thank you very much for telling me that.
And I'll get back to the smaller protected area when I have more time.

Re: Suggestions to get the pvp rolling
We don't need plugins to get pvp going. people just need to learn how to find others. A lot of people that are spread out get far using the nether. If you search the nether for trails it could lead you right to a base. Best place to look is along the bedrock top or bottom that's where the real clever people hide their trails. But you can't expect tons of fighting with the low amount of people we have these days. So even though i hate it, it would seem having a large spawn where people can hang out safly was a good way to bring in people wanting to fight.
Re: Suggestions to get the pvp rolling
Perhaps advertise this server some more so we can get a less-empty server?
Re: Suggestions to get the pvp rolling
I will Xestia, and the plugin has been added.

Love the new plugin!! i told everyone to check it out and they thought it was going to kill them haha. anyway, the server seems to be getting more traffic over the past couple of days.
