Far from spawn / Base ratio

How often do you guys find bases MANY blocks from spawn?

I'm headlessly wondering around , and I just crossed an ENORMOUS ocean thinking i'm nearing the world boundary , but HEY!

Another desert.

Uh, there is no world boundary yet, and the possibility of finding bases randomly close to spawn are low. That far out you have to be really lucky.

Till now I found only one hidden base 8k away from spawn.
