death messages are fun and also let you know who killed you. I don,t think it would ruin the psudo vanilla status of the server and would help in identifying the "hey i was killed by a hacker" assailents. And it allows players to ridicule eachother for stupid deaths

The killed would be able to see who the killer was.

Ambush is just a "surprise" attack though. More often than not in an ambush, the killer has to reveal himself to well, kill.

What is meant is that a group would be able to see immediatly if one of it's members got attacked, and by who, and retaliate.

Exactly, but since a lot of people want this, I won't be removing the death messages in 1.8, but I won't add a plugin doing this now.
