Thieving guide from RASSBA, The Thief of The Sands.

Post by RASSBA »

First off, I wrote this guide to teach
people how to be a proper thief in Minecraft.
It is much harder than it seems, but
I will try to get all basic and most
advanced methods.

BASICS:

1. Pressing SHIFT(Sneaking) reduces visibility of your name to 10%.
If you are hiding behind at least a 1-block thick wall, then
your nickname won't be visible at all.Try to never let go of that
button unless the situation requires it or the target is far away.

2. Try to be really fast.If you be slow for a moment it might
cost you your life.Don't get distracted by chests too much, the owner
could sneak up on you with a diamond sword/bucket of lava.

3. Try to avoid suspicious pressure plates, buttons and levers.Use your own
levers to open pressure-plated doors. On advanced trap evasion I will talk in the
advanced part of the guide.

4. Unless you want to be a dirty robber, try to evade the owner if you can't 1/2 hit him.

ADVANCED:

1. Training. Be sure to train in every art that helps you be a better thief.
These include:
I.Parkour. Learn to never stop sprinting and try to master every skilljump.
II.Bow-shooting. Learn to shoot through a one-block window from at least 50 blocks.
III.Redstone mechanics. Have a PHD in redstone mechanics, know every gate/trap.
IV.Sword fighting. Really important vs players. With enough(enormous) skill you can kill a player with a better sword.
V.Melee fighting. Most unnoticeable and accessable weapon. Learn to barehand 3 creepers/a ghast.

2. Trap evasion. Avoid suspicious things, DON'T MINE ANY BLOCK unless 1 hundred percent sure what's around it.(all 15 blocks).
Carry levers/redstone torches to safely disable traps.A bucket of water, too.Search for traps as much as for the
hidden chests themselves.

3. You may also want to distract the owner with something like a sudden fire, noteblock+pulsar underground,
flood, putting out torches in the other part of the base.

4. If an encounter is inevitable, then either you are dumb or you should just run in 90% of situations better than
risking the stuff that you got and your own stuff.

5. Try to carry only the items that you need, and the least you can of them. No armor pref. This means you
should scout on the base/target before stealing from it.

6. DON'T leave evidence like signs : "TROLOLO JOHN1999 WUZ HERE CYA KISSY KISSY". They might have
the contacts to enact vengeance or form a crusade against you, also raising thief awareness of the residents,
meaning you and your crew can't steal easily anymore.

HAVE FUN WITH EVERYTHING YOU LEARNED FROM THIS GUIDE.

P.S. Want to grief and annoy with that? Snapshot servers aren't able to protect themselves with mods/a lot of admins,
so Google and you're hooked up.

Funny, but you still do need to avoid traps and shit :D. Also they could suddenly log in when you are rushing through their chests.

Traps. Wow. Cause pressure plates are so hard to see. And if you were retarded enough not to lava thier log out position, you deserve to die.

Pressure plates are for dumbasses. Obsidian doorways that suddenly open the ceiling to a pool full of lava when destroyed are not.

Yeah, because I'm pretty sure that you've ever tried hooking obsidian to a Piston and found that it moved.

What are you, kidding? I am talking about the inverter thingy. You break obsidian, torch breaks, turning another inverter on, opening the ceiling.

Why the fuck would anyone want to spend 15-6 seconds breaking a piece of obsidian when they could just put stone there and get it done in more than a sixteenth of the time.
