Update: This is a Bukkit bug, already patched: http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/animal ... -2.145051/
It's like this all around my base and inside. I don't think there is a limit to how many are spawning - killing them doesn't work, they come back, and FPS drops to 1-17 (I play on quad-core, 8 gigs ram). There are literally thousands of animals and it's becoming unplayable. Since Mojang isn't bothering to fix it right now I am hoping for the server to look into an animal nuke, if possible.
Nuke animals?
Nuke animals?

Christ, how does this even happen?
Re: Nuke animals?
Holy cow, spawn has less than half of this kinda mob density, I wonder whats making them go crazy over there
Re: Nuke animals?
I'm thinking that either 1. Noobs are killing them all, farming all the food or 2. They are falling through the many cracks and crevices that are so plentiful near spawn and filtering into caves below.

Re: Nuke animals?
spawn has no grass ergo no passive mob spawning. and yes those that do spawn are newb killed
Re: Nuke animals?
I tried a very FAIL way of getting rid of them - leading them into a pit with food, then dropping TNT... somehow the TNT did NOT kill them all... and I neglected to notice the huge cave system right below. So they all just dropped into the cave system and now there are animals lagging me out from below in addition to the ones on the surface.
