I don't agree with her, lone. Just agree that she has a point. I completely disagree with her conclusion though. I think the problem is more to do with bad writing in general, and we should ask for more. She seems to have a problem with the old adage "Don't attribute malice to what could easily be attributed to stupidity".

She doesn't have a point. Writers will write what they fucking want and what will sell the most. You can't tell me Gears of War or SPESS MEHREENS would have been better if there was a Female actor in place of the person. It just makes sense, and these people try to bend it out of proportion.

No, because dumb action flicks aren't supposed to be analyzed like that. GoW and Space Marins can have as many dick-waving, manly, big-chested male characters it wants, it doesn't make it any less gay. most of her "examples" are either poor writing (weeaboo games) or dumb action games (God of War) which gamers don't (generally) hail for their good writing. Look at more well-crafted games and her "thesis" falls flat on its face, as I have not seen a game that told a good story that treated any of its characters (particularly with the women characters) with any sort of "gender-ness" unless it had some sort of exception (historical and contextual being the two biggest ones). I agree with you, I just say that if you took the phrase "the gaming industry is male-dominated, and the audience is slowly becoming more equal, and the industry is not keeping up" and asked yourself, "is there truth to this?" I'd say yes. she just has a completely incorrect "why?" to why that is. It is what it is, and it will change as it changes.

i recently replayed and beat super mario bros. and the legend of zelda and those bitches didn't put out at all they just send you packing back to the beginning of the game. Seems to me the "damsel in distress" holds all the power.
