Not really sure what it counts for, but I remember walking a ridiculous distance without the nether last year. I think it ended up being 100-200k, but I'm not entirely certain.

It's not meaningless, you ignorant shit. The spawn is universally recognized as 0, 0, it was always 0, 0, and there is no real reason to change it when every single one of your complaints can be fixed with the simple solution of resetting the area arouns 0, 0.

I don't think moving spawn from 0, 0 is a good idea. I haven't got a real problem with resetting the terrain for the first few hundred blocks around it, however. If we randomize spawning to 20-30k, new players are going to have one hell of a hard time meeting other new players.

I like the fact that the ban includes any gear. This way, the obsidian structures around the world's spawn are that much more difficult to take down.

The best we got out of the old pvp worlds (excluding the pre-made one) was a few wool huts, maybe a treehouse here and there. I'm in support of the protected spawn. I think that if it can be amended to suit the complaints against it (which it can) then it should stay.

Did you not see the elaborate wall that stood around the spawn (complete with exits, mind you), the one that stood for weeks on end without being torn down? That was a prime example of the different ways creativity manifests itself in different forms depending on the environment.
