The Kingdom of Melonhold, or just Melonhold for short, is a base made by Sockholderz, being his first major build project on the server. It officially began on the 22nd of February, 2024, with the construction of its first building, the lighthouse.

In its inception, Melonhold was considered a "build project" by Sockholderz, separate from a "base", as he had no intention of Melonhold having any real utility and was simply built for the sake of building. However, without a secure place to farm resources and store his things, he found these conditions hard to operate under. Sockholderz officially moved into Melonhold many months after it was founded, although he would still prioritize building fun things instead of valuable farms and obscene wealth, with his most valuable endeavors being built off-site.

As of late 2024, Melonhold's development has stagnated. In addition to him simply prioritizing other things, Sockholderz's vision for Melonhold has changed significantly, and he is unsure with how to continue with the project.

Original Concept

Melonhold is a society of humanoid melons, artificially created and ruled by a royal family, the eldest bloodline of the melon people. The melon people are conditioned to look after each other, providing their lives to keep the kingdom prosperous. However, as the kingdom grows, many of its citizens wonder of their true creator, asking existential questions which, to some, the royal blood have been dodging.

The greater story of Melonhold was intended to be unraveled though individual stories, clues, hidden structures, and written books hidden in each structure in Melonhold. However, as of now, very few of these features have actually been implemented.

History

The Beginning

Sockholderz came up with the idea of Melonhold after having rewatched Adventure Time for the second time. Due to his appreciation of the cartoon, along with him already working on a melon-related project on the server, as well as feeling generally inspired to create, Melonhold was born sometime in the middle of February, 2024.

After taking about a week to find a suitable location, he began building Melonhold's first structure, the lighthouse. This marks the official start of the Melonhold project on February 22, 2024.

In the months that followed, Sockholderz would continue to smooth out the terrain with moss, preferring its saturated greenness and uniformity over the standard grass of the land. He would build an observatory structure, followed by a rounded cliff face that followed the naturally generated terrain of the land. Finally, he began outlining the wall that would divide the loose outer structures of Melonhold from the inner.

After a few months, however, Sockholderz's creativity began to wear thin. So he put the project on pause until he felt creative again.

The Second Burst of Creativity

In the middle of July, Sockholderz would return to SimPvP, feeling refreshed and ready to revisit Melonhold. Upon finding it exactly as he left it, he spent his first days terraforming on and off, still brainstorming ideas of greater buildings. And on July 20, 2024, Melonhold would receive its latest major structure: the laboratory and home belonging to the kingdom's own "scientist."

It was around this time that Sockholderz found it tiresome to continue Melonhold without having basic features of a base, like farms and some kind of storage system. At some point early in the project's construction, Sockholderz made the beginnings of a sewer system. The idea was to have a long, dungeon-like sewer system that one could easily get lost in, but it was only big enough for a semi-automatic moss farm, which he used almost entirely to build Melonhold's terrain. During this stage of construction, however, he expanded the sewer to great lengths, including many basic farms that helped with the project and his own character progression.

Sometime around late August and early September, Sockholderz began building the residential area of inner Melonhold with a large apartment complex, which he officially moved into sometime in September. This build is not yet complete since he decided to build it out of mangrove logs and mushroom stem, two of the most annoying resources to gather.

As of November 2024, after many months of building, Sockholderz put the project on hold yet again.
