The Bridge is an iconic landmark, residing on the west highway, just 2000 blocks from Spawn.
The build was designed and founded by Laztec, with over a dozen other players generously contributing to the construction, most notably Unkn0wnSFR and Ssoup_Ssoup.
Construction
Laztec would begin planning the build on August 7th, 2022, immediately after the construction of Terabyte was complete. By August 15th, a design was created, a location was selected, and construction was ready to begin. Progress was unexpectedly fast at first, with 50% of the bridge being constructed during the initial day. The remaining 50% of the build would take a further 3 days to complete due to the amount of terraforming required of the surrounding terrain. Nevertheless, on August 19th, 2022, construction was complete and the builders could rest.
Spanning over 1000 blocks in length and comprising of over 160000 obsidian, The Bridge would become one of the most ambitious public spawn structures on the server.
Utility
The Bridge was designed to serve a purpose beyond bringing the building community together - it would be used as one of many sites to bring new-joining players to, in order to introduce them to the server and provide them with a safe start to their journey.
Over the following months, Laztec, SenorJeb, and several other players would aid in guiding new players out of Spawn and onto The Bridge, where they would traverse the structure by boat, via one of two canals built alongside the obsidian walkways. Upon reaching the end, they would be given food, offered shelter in a nearby spawn base, and be sent on their way. As expected, very few new players would continue to play on the server after the first day, however the efforts made would enrich their experience nonetheless.
History
Shortly after construction, both The Bridge and Terabyte would be griefed by Goujon in an unprovoked attack. Over the following days, many players would collaborate once again to restore both builds.
Several months later, following a minor Discord dispute, f8tal_, a long-term ally of many of the builders, would severely lavacast and wither The Bridge across multiple occasions. This attack was more severe and would not only impact the many peaceful allies who devoted significant time and resources to the build, but also hinder their ability to safely tour new players out of Spawn and across it.
