Project 319 is a spawn project founded by Laztec and Ssoup_Ssoup, whereby large obsidian signs are constructed at the new height limit of 319.
Over 400,000 obsidian was used to construct the signs from the first phase of the project, displayed below.
Planning
The project was conceived on the 2nd of March, 2023, when Laztec was experiencing the privileged struggle of possessing so much obsidian, but having no practical use for it. After contemplating various ideas, he would eventually settle on constructing a large name sign, similar to that of SkullerG's. The idea was presented to Ssoup_Ssoup, as he was a major contributor to The Bridge, and he agreed to help. Ssoup_Ssoup would then propose that an obsidian troll face also be constructed, which Laztec agreed was a great idea.
The next day, Laztec would find an optimal location for the project, create schematics for the troll face and for each individual letter in the name sign, then compile everything into a Discord server for the builders to refer to. By now, Lunadox_ and SenorJeb were also on board to help, and many other friends were invited.
Construction
Construction began in the early hours of March 4th, with Laztec beginning to outline each letter from the name sign, and Ssoup_Ssoup outlining the troll face, such that people could contribute more easily without needing to render the large schematics.
By the 8th of March, construction of the troll face was already complete, with Ssoup_Ssoup constructing almost 80% of it by himself. By this same date, only 40% of the name sign was complete due to it consisting of almost 300,000 obsidian. The remaining progress was swifter than expected though, as more players were offering their help each day.
Just four days later, on the evening of the March 12th, construction of the name sign was complete, meaning the entire first phase of the project was now finished.
Despite being a grand success, the project was not without its delays. The first came in the form of one SenorJeb, who misplaced almost 1000 obsidian while attempting to fill in a rectangular outline that had been made. Once this error was painfully resolved, and the structure grew larger, the issue of hostile mobs would arise. Several builders would fall victim to ambushes from creepers and hoards of zombies, slowing down the progress at night.
